Cleveland Heights Utrecht associate, Bailey VanKirk, recently placed first in the representational category for the first Utrecht employee art competition.  Competition was stiff throughout all of the Utrecht stores, corporate office, manufacturing facility, and warehouse.   This award was well deserved, and we are very proud of her accomplishment.

Pop over to Karen Sandstrom’s Pen In Hand blog for a special contest that she’s running.  She’s offering the prize of one of her illustrations for the person who writes the best one sentence horror story.  She gives a link to her one sentence romance story that she sponsored earlier in the year. 

 You may remember Karen from a couple years ago when she did the sketchbook workshop in our old location.  We know that everyone was very taken with flipping through all of her books full of sketches.  Now is the time that you could own one of her illustrations all of your own!

Here’s a little map to show you where we’re moving too.  As you can see, we’ll be in the same city block, just around the corner.

There are a few parking spaces in front of the store.  Also there are a few pay meters to the left on the map.  But, keep in mind that during non-evening rush hour, you can park for free on most of Mayfield Road. 

We’d like to suggest that you pick up a copy of the Sunday Plain Dealer.  This week’s Sunday Arts section features a great article by one of our favorite people, Karen Sandstrom, about one of our other favorite people, Karen Blados. 

Also, it’s hard to believe that we’ve been blogging for a year over here.  Time flew by so fast!  I guess it’s because you all have been so busy creating such wonderful artwork and projects, and we’ve loved being a part of it.

Halley Dawn will be holding an opening of “Random Thoughts:  new work by Halley Dawn” at Brandt Gallery on Friday, October 10th from 6:00-10:00PM.

“One” is a painting that when finished will be made up of 1,000,000 pieces measuring 50 squares high by 20,000 squares wide.  Each piece measures 1″x1″ and is signed, dated, and numbered by the artist.  Every piece is considered an individual painting, but it is also part of the whole.
