December 3, 2009 Salty Not Sweet

salty.JPG

Join us for the Salty Not Sweet trunk show on December 3, 2009 from 6:30-9:00PM in our store.  They will have available a lot of great and funky handmade items for sale, just in time for Christmas.  Salty Not Sweet is a group of Cleveland indie crafters.  They do traditional and non-traditional arts and crafts with a great edge.

Salty Not Sweet will be donating 5% of proceeds to Heights Arts, a non-profit organization that fosters the arts in the entire Heights area.  You’re probably familiar with their gallery near the Cedar-Lee cinema, their studio in the library on Lee, and their parking meter cozies that have popped up around the area.

For more information, please feel free to contact Candra at Salty Not Sweet.

One Sentence Horror Story Contest

Pop over to Karen Sandstrom’s Pen In Hand blog for a special contest that she’s running.  She’s offering the prize of one of her illustrations for the person who writes the best one sentence horror story.  She gives a link to her one sentence romance story that she sponsored earlier in the year.

You may remember Karen from a couple years ago when she did the sketchbook workshop in our old location.  We know that everyone was very taken with flipping through all of her books full of sketches.  Now is the time that you could own one of her illustrations all of your own!

Upcoming Worldwide Sketchcrawl

crawl1.jpg

Join us for a sketchcrawl on Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 2:00-4:00pm at Algebra Tea House:  a gallery of arts, culture, and food.  Algebra is located at 2136 Murray Hill Road in Cleveland.  If you are traveling west on Mayfield Road, it will be a left turn in the Little Italy area, a short drive from our store.

If the weather permits, you’ll be free to explore the Murray Hill/Little Italy area to draw, or you can settle into the cozy tea house to draw and explore.

crawl2.jpg

This sketchcrawl will coincide with the Worldwide Sketchcrawl.  Feel free to browse their forum for examples of what other artists have done in their cities.  Feel free to become a member there, and then you can post your sketches in the results after the sketchcrawl.

We also would like to take a moment to thank Algebra Tea House for being so accommodating to our group.

Going to Gauguin?

gaugin.jpg

Visit the Cleveland Museum of Art website for more information on the Gauguin exhibit that just opened yesterday.  The exhibit will only be around for a few months, don’t wait until the last minute to go over.  Especially if you were one of the people crowded into the Monet exhibit during the last week (I only know, because I was one of you as well).

If you don’t live in Cleveland, keep in mind that this is the ONLY stop for this exhibit in the United States, so you might want to consider visiting if you’re within a day-trip of our area.  If you do, stop by our store, we’re not far from the museum and very easy to get to from there.
